To say good-bye is never easy

Today my boss left. Leaving the project and the company.I knew this for two months now, but these kind of things only become real, when you finally say good-bye.

We worked together for 8 months. He was not just a boss. He was a mentor, a good colleague, somebody who challenged me, would make me smurk because of his zynical comments, somebody I learned a lot from.

He made my experience on this project special.

So yes, I am sad that he left, but on the otherside happy for him to move on in his career with a new challenge out there.I will miss him that is for sure. But we will catch up soon in Zurich.. where his new job is.

What a chilled Tuesday evening

I finally had my back massage today (after I had to wait for 3 weeks to get an appointment) and got all those tensions and knots worked out. After the massage I always feel a bit high and totally relaxed. What have an hour can do to you ;)

I then went back to have a totally relaxed evening pamparing myself. I did a chocolate peeling on my face. Had a long shower and used some special conditioning masque for my hair. I put on a vitamin face masque later... ahh these girly things need to be done some times and I enjoyed it!

Then stretching on the couch in my pyjama and bathrobe with a bowl of self-made oven potatoe wedges, onions and peppers I enjoyed on of my favorite TV series - the Gilmore Girls. I am addicted to this just as to Grey's Anatomy.

Now sitting on the couch, reading some blogs, checking email... I still feel totally relaxed and as far from work as possible in my mind.

Managing Messages

It is all about managing messages. This is a big theme in my job field. Manage the messages to your client, different parties of the project, manage messages outside of the project.

Every communication which goes out, every email, powerpoint, presentation, even every time you open your mouth what do you want to communicate which message do you want to send and why?

Sounds like work doesn't it? This is definitely on my I-want-to-learn-this list. It takes time to incorporate message managing in your daily life. And, sometimes you ask yourself do I really want this? Think about what to communicate to whom at which point in time? Does this make us calculated or manipulate others? Or does this help to protect ourselves?

Do we mangage ourself or others by managing messages? What are your thoughts on this?
